General

We provide care for patients from birth to 16 years of age. We aim to transition patients to adult services between 16 to 18 years; however, we consider if the family and patient are ready to move to adult services.

Our aim is to do a thorough assessment. Therefore, the duration of the appointment will be determined by the patient condition/care needs.

First appointment is 30-60 minutes.

Subsequent appointment will be approximately 30 minutes.

All patients need a valid referral to see a specialist. You will need to provide your referral prior to the appointment to enable us to plan for your visit. Referral from the GP last 12 months and referral from another specialist is 3 months. A new referral is required every 12 months

It is the legal requirement for Medicare billing purposes that the child attends the appointment. It is also an opportunity to check for response to therapy or side effects prior to refilling the repeat scripts or updating the anaphylaxis/asthma action plan.

If you are running late, please call and let us know. If you are running more than 10 minutes late, we will do our best to see your child on the day, but the appointment might be shorter.

Occasionally, you might have to reschedule to ensure we fully assess your child, or you might have to wait.

.

Please call as early as possible to let us know as we might have to reschedule the appointment and offer the appointment to another family on the waiting list.

We endeavour to run on time, however, if the doctor is running more than 30 minutes late we will let you know.

Telehealth services are available for appropriate families. However, for the first appointment, it is recommended that you attend in person. Please contact us to discuss.

Appointment

We endeavour to offer appointments in a timely manner. Please contact the practice to discuss your concerns.

The current waiting time varies depending on the urgency of the condition.

Definitely. If you have the flexibility to attend an earlier appointment let us know. Ensure that you are readily contactable and respond timely. Delayed response might result in the appointment being offered to the next patient on the waiting list.

Fees

We are a private paediatric clinic and unfortunately, it is not possible for us to bulkbill. We aim to keep our fees as low as possible and are in line with Medicare recommended rates.

Ensure you have a valid referral to enable you to claim part of the fee back from Medicare. Our admin staff will provide the details on how to access your claim.

Financial consent and assessment will be obtained prior to the appointment.

We offer reduced out of pocket costs for current health care card holders. Please mention this at the time of booking and bring your card to the appointment.
